Overview:

This custom rug is meant to be an abstracted map of Morocco. We designed this rug using the traditional Kharita style. In Arabic, Kharita means map. You often see these rugs in a warm desert color palette, with triangular designs that are reminiscent of the anti-Atlas mountains. We had the artisans adjust the colors to capture the Atlantic ocean, the coastal plains near Rabat and Fes. Diagonally, running through the middle of the rug, you find the Atlas mountains that form the backbone of Morocco. The mountains give way to the Sahara desert, which you find in the lower part of the. This piece was originally woven as a wall hanging. It can be custom ordered in any size.
